Sebastian, what began as a modest flour mill quickly evolved into a trusted name in coconut oil production. In 1987, the installation of a 6-bolt expeller enabled the mill to begin producing oil using copra brought in by customers on a job rate basis. This milestone laid the foundation for a brand dedicated to excellence and authentic craftsmanship.
Our Journey
By the late 1980s, we began producing our own copra in the traditional way, using locally sourced coconuts, creating jobs in the community and ensuring control over quality. 1990 marked a significant milestone in our journey as we upgraded to a 9-bolt expeller, enhancing the efficiency of our oil production process. Additionally, we introduced a cloth-based filtration system, ensuring that our coconut oil was not only extracted efficiently but also filtered to perfection. This advancement resulted in a product of superior quality, reinforcing our commitment to excellence.
In 1995, we enhanced our production process by introducing a dryer system that uses a hot air blowing mechanism to dry coconuts in a controlled, smoke-free environment. This method not only eliminates the risk of smoke contamination but also ensures a consistent drying process, resulting in clean, high-grade copra. The quality of the copra directly impacts the purity of the oil extracted—our oil is lighter in color, free from impurities, and rich in natural antioxidants. Since no preservatives are required, the oil remains unadulterated, retaining its authentic aroma, delicate coconut flavor, and natural nutrients. With its smooth texture, fresh coconut flavor, and extended shelf life, our oil stands out as a truly natural and premium-quality product.
The Brand “Kallarackal Chembans”
In 2014, the next generation — Sanoj Sebastian and Sanoop Sebastian Kallarackal — joined the family business, bringing with them a fresh perspective and renewed energy. Under their leadership, our premium coconut oil was launched under the Chembans brand, with expanded packaging options. They broadened sourcing to northern coastal Kerala, ensuring consistent access to high-quality coconuts year-round and further strengthening our commitment to producing sulphur-free, cold pressed coconut oil. To make our products more accessible and user-friendly, Chembans-branded oil is now offered in convenient, freshness-preserving bottles and packets — ideal for everyday use in both households and businesses.
As part of our zero-waste philosophy and commitment to sustainability, we found a meaningful way to repurpose the fresh coconut water left over from copra production. Instead of discarding this nutrient-rich byproduct, we harnessed the power of natural fermentation to create a pure, handcrafted coconut vinegar. Developed in line with Coconut Development Board guidelines, our vinegar is free from synthetic additives and artificial flavorings. The result is a wholesome, naturally fermented product rich in beneficial enzymes and minerals—ideal for cooking, wellness routines, or even as a daily health tonic. By turning what was once waste into value, we not only reduce our environmental impact but also offer a product that supports healthier lifestyles.
Expanding Horizons
In 2024, we expanded our operations by launching a sister concern — Chemban Coconut Products — located in Nalukettu, Koratty, Thrissur district. This new facility is equipped with two advanced dryer units dedicated exclusively to the bulk production of sulphur-free copra. This strategic expansion has enabled us to meet the growing demand for pure coconut products while allowing us to commercially supply our own premium-grade Kerala copra to businesses, wholesalers, and exporters.
Sulphur-free copra is completely unadulterated, as it is processed without the use of chemicals like sulphur dioxide. As a result, the coconut oil extracted from it is exceptionally pure—free from sulphur residues — ensuring a natural aroma, clean flavor, and superior quality. This step reinforces our commitment to offering only the most authentic and health-conscious coconut products.

Starting from a humble flour mill, Kallarackal Oil Mill has blossomed into a respected producer of premium coconut-based products, all while holding firm to our founding values.
